What Sungkyunkwan is like

  • Daehangno has small theaters, cafés and cheap eats, and stays lively into the evening.
  • The palaces, Bukchon and Insadong are close enough to walk to on a free afternoon.
  • Seoul's old city is compact, so a lot of the center is within a short ride.

Getting around

  • Hyehwa Station (Line 4) is the usual stop for Daehangno and the campus area.
  • Line 4 runs through central Seoul, including Dongdaemun, Myeongdong and Seoul Station.

Good to know

  • This is one of Seoul's older, denser districts; many buildings are small and walk-up, so check floors and access on the room page.
  • Sungkyunkwan's science campus is in Suwon, a separate city. Make sure your classes are on the Seoul campus.
