Gwanak-gu

Furnished stays near Seoul National University

A quieter, more residential Seoul — with a bus ride to a hillside campus.

Seoul National University's main Gwanak campus sits in the hills at the southern edge of the city. Most students live in the neighborhoods around it — Sillim, Nakseongdae and Bongcheon — and take a short bus ride up to the campus.

What SNU is like

  • A more residential Seoul than Hongdae or Sinchon, with local markets, affordable meals and quieter streets.
  • Sillim is a well-known student and exam-prep neighborhood with lots of small restaurants.
  • Nakseongdae and Seoul Nat'l Univ. Station offer a bit more variety and an easy line into the center.

Getting around

  • Line 2 runs through Nakseongdae and Seoul Nat'l Univ. Station, with frequent buses up to the campus.
  • Sillim Station (Line 2) is another common starting point, with its own bus connections.
  • The campus is large and hilly; it's worth checking which gate or building you'll use most.

Good to know

  • The station that carries SNU's name is a bus ride from the campus, not at its gate. Allow extra time on your first week.
  • A room that looks close on a map can still mean a long uphill walk — check the route to your actual building.
