What Hongik is like
- Hongik is known for art and design, and the area shows it: studios, galleries, street performers and independent shops.
- Plenty of cafés, cheap eats and late-night places, so it rarely feels empty — and rarely feels silent either.
- Neighboring Yeonnam-dong, Sangsu and Mangwon are calmer and still within an easy walk or one stop.
- Sinchon, home to Yonsei and close to Ewha and Sogang, is a short ride or a longer walk away.
Getting around
- Hongik University Station (Line 2, AREX, Gyeongui–Jungang Line) is the hub. The airport railway runs here directly from Incheon Airport.
- Line 2 also runs one stop to Sinchon and two to Ewha Womans University, and the other way toward Hapjeong and Dangsan.
- Nearby Hapjeong and Sangsu stations (Lines 2 and 6) add options if you live off the main strip.
Good to know
- Streets close to the station can be noisy late on weekends. If you're a light sleeper, look a few blocks away or ask the host about the building's position.
